Terms of sale
Plain words, because you should be able to read this in a few minutes. Last updated: 14 Oct 2026
Who sells Downstage
Downstage is made and sold by Ashley Derek Pow, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is one person, not a company. In this page, "we" and "us" mean that person.
Outside India, your purchase is handled by our payment partner, which acts as the merchant of record. That makes it the legal seller to you, so its own checkout terms apply as well as these.
What you are buying
You are buying a license to use Downstage, not the software itself. The license lets you run Downstage on one Mac at a time, for yourself or for your band, with every iPad and phone connected to that Mac.
Every feature is included. There is one edition.
Do not share your license key, resell it, or try to get round the license.
Price, payment and tax
| In India | Everywhere else | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | ₹3,999 | US$79 |
| Founding price, until 31 December 2026 | ₹2,999 | US$59 |
In India you pay by UPI or an Indian card, through Razorpay, and you are buying from the person named above. No GST is added to the price.
Everywhere else you pay by card through our payment partner. It collects any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live, and may add it at checkout.
Beta testers get the founding price whenever their beta ends, even after 31 December 2026.
Delivery
Downstage is digital. Your license key is shown on screen and emailed to you right after you pay. You download the app from the Download page.
Updates
A year of updates is included: every version released in the first year after you buy.
After the year, the license keeps working. Only versions released after the year are not included.
Activation and renewal
A license needs the internet at two moments. It is activated online once. After that it is renewed automatically every so often, whenever the Mac is online.
A Mac can be offline for 30 days after its last renewal, and Downstage then keeps working for 14 days more. After that, Downstage starts in the 15-minute trial.
A license is only ever acted on when Downstage starts, never during a show. Nothing that happens while it is open can lock it. How licenses work has the detail, and Privacy lists what is sent to us.
Moving to another Mac
You can move a license to another Mac up to 4 times a year. Type the license key on the new Mac. The old Mac is retired. How moving works.
Refunds
Refunds are decided case by case, because the trial lets you try everything first. If something is wrong after you buy, write to us within 14 days of purchase. The details are on the Refunds page.
When a license can be stopped
We may stop a license that was paid for with a payment that was reversed or disputed, or that is being shared or resold. We will tell the owner first. A license that is refunded is stopped too.
The beta and the trial
Without a license, every feature works for 15 minutes at a time. Restart Downstage for another 15.
During the beta, a free 30-day beta license is available from inside the app. It is one per email address and one per Mac. When it ends, Downstage goes back to the trial.
The software as it is
We work hard for Downstage to be reliable on stage, but we cannot promise it will be free of faults. Downstage never sits in the audio path: if it stops, Live keeps playing.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything to do with Downstage is limited to the price you paid for your license.
Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under the law where you live.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the change applies to purchases made after it. We will say so on this page, with the date.
The law
These terms are governed by Indian law, and the courts in Mumbai can decide any dispute. If you are a consumer, that does not take away your right to rely on the consumer protection laws where you live.
