Jumping to songs
Tap a song and Live goes to it on the next bar line. What armed means, and what happens when Live is stopped.
Downstage 0.9.0 · updated 13 Oct 2026While Live is playing
Tap any song in the setlist.
- The row turns amber and says Jumping at bar 43.
- The Next card turns amber too: → Gulaabo x Naal Nachna.
- On the next bar line, Live jumps to the start of that song and carries on playing.
That amber state is called armed. The jump has been handed to Live, and Live is waiting for its own bar line to make it. Because Live does the timing, the jump is in time however slow the network is — a late tap just means it lands a bar later.
Every connected screen shows the same armed jump, including the band view, so the whole band sees it coming.
An armed jump cannot be cancelled. Once Live is holding a jump, the only way to change it is to ask for a different one before the bar line: the last one asked for wins. Stopping also clears it.
Tapping the song that is already playing does nothing while Live is playing, so you cannot restart a song by brushing its row. To go back to the top of the current section, use Repeat.
While Live is stopped
Tap a song and the playhead moves to it immediately. Nothing goes amber, because there is nothing to wait for. Press Play and it starts from there.
Previous and Next
The buttons at either end of the transport step through the setlist, not the arrangement:
- Next arms a jump to the song after the one playing.
- Previous arms a jump to the one before it.
They are greyed out at the ends of the setlist. Before the first song, Next goes to the first one.
When the jump happens
A jump waits for Live's launch quantisation. With it at 1 Bar, the header says Jumps: next bar and the amber labels name the bar. With a longer setting, a jump waits for that boundary instead and the labels say the next bar line.
If launch quantisation is None, jumps happen the instant they arrive — out of time. Downstage shows a red warning for that; set it back to 1 Bar in Live. See Launch quantisation.
Moving on by itself
You do not have to tap at the end of every song. In a setlist, each song either runs on into the next or stops after, and Downstage makes that happen at the song's last bar. See Runs on or stops after.
